Uzair Baloch, the alleged gang leader of one of Lyari’s gangs, has reportedly made startling revelations regarding his criminal activities and his association with some Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders in carrying out these activities.
An anchorperson of a private TV channel (not Aaj News) claimed in her programme on Thursday that Baloch had purportedly told the UAE authorities that he had murdered a number of people on the orders of PPP leader cochairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, former Sindh home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza and others.
According to the news channel, Uzair, which is currently in the custody of the UAE authorities, had claimed that he was in direct contact with the PPP leadership and that he had carried out targeted killings in Karachi on the orders of PPP leaders. Some of these orders, he claimed, came from the PPP cochairman, former Sindh home minister Zulfiqar Mirza, incumbent Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon and PPP leader Owais Muzaffar.
The anchorperson further claimed that PPP leadership was making allout efforts to prevent Baloch from being extradited to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Sharjeel Memon refuted the reported the purported claims of Uzair and said the PPP never ordered him to carry out any criminal activity. Instead, he said, the last PPP government started a major operation against the gangsters in Lyari.
