ABU DHABI, 24th April, 2016 (WAM) — The International Diplomatic Group of wives of ambassadors accredited to Abu Dhabi has held the annual charity bazaar in support of Yemeni children.

Opened by H.H. Sheikha Al Yazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the event was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and also “Mother of the Nation.”

The three-day bazaar, which was held at the General Women’s Union (GWU) headquarters, was also attended by Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GWU. The participating countries in the event featured exhibits, heritage collections and valuable prizes.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency, Sheikha Al Yazia commended the humanitarian efforts of Sheikha Fatima, citing her donations to the underprivileged sisterly and foreign countries. She noted that the foundation of this humanitarian legacy was laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and sustained by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

She praised the organisation of the charity bazaar, and thanked the group of ambassadors’ wives for making this charity event a success.
