TRENDS, Media Office of Government of Fujairah sign cooperation agreement at Global Media Congress

ABU DHABI, TRENDS Research and Advisory and the Media Office of the Government of Fujairah signed a cooperation agreement in the fields of media and research.

The signing took place at the stand of TRENDS at the Global Media Congress held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, in the presence of officials, intellectuals, experts, and specialists in media from around the world.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, and Mr. Jamal Adam, Director of the Media Office of the Government of Fujairah.

Dr. Al-Ali stated that the agreement with the Media Office of the Government of Fujairah comes within the framework of TRENDS’ mission to enhance cooperation and partnerships with governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as local, regional and international think tanks and research institutions. Dr. Al-Ali added that the agreement also reflects the strong ties between the two sides and their efforts to expand the knowledge base and better utilize their resources.

He praised the efforts of the Media Office of the Government of Fujairah, pointing out that the agreement provides for joint research in fields of mutual interest, including media, social, political, and economic studies as well as field studies and opinion polls. The agreement also allows for the mutual exchange of expertise and intellectual contributions by experts and researchers from the two sides, he added.

Jamal Adam, Director of the Media Office of the Government of Fujairah, stated that the cooperation between TRENDS and the Media Office of the Government of Fujairah signals the strong relations between the two sides and their efforts to expand the knowledge base and accumulated expertise of both sides in areas of common interest.

He expressed his happiness in signing the agreement and praised the efforts of TRENDS Research and Advisory.

He pointed out that the reputation of TRENDS and its efforts in disseminating knowledge were important incentives for signing the agreement, adding that TRENDS’ publications and studies adhered to the strictest international standards.

Adam welcomed cooperation with TRENDS in promoting common goals, serving decision makers and the community at large, supporting research, and achieving a more comprehensive understanding of the various regional and global issues facing the world today.

Mubadala, Bidaya Media sign agreement to create UAE National Identity-themed content based on ‘The Adventures of Mansour’

ABU DHABI, Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) and Bidaya Media have signed an agreement to create UAE National Identity themed content based on the new series of the popular Emirati cartoon “The Adventures of Mansour”.

The new series will be launched in 2023, with Bidaya Media working closely with Mubadala to produce new stories and content. This will serve to encourage cultural awareness, preserve the national identity, strengthen the sense of belonging to the nation amongst Emiratis and support in nurturing young Emiratis’ abilities, in line with the Principles of the 50.

Nabil El Jisr, CEO Bidaya Media, said, “Mansour has been hugely successful with over two billon YouTube views. With our compelling stories and content, we are harnessing Emirati values and culture, and creating an awareness for these among the youth, as well as the new generation, by leveraging Mansour and its popularity amongst the Emirati community. This serves to encourage, protect, and support Emirati heritage and principles for future generations.”

Fatima Al Marzouqi, Portfolio Emiratization Director at Mubadala, added, “Mubadala is committed to supporting the future of the UAE national identity, and this begins with our children. The popular cartoon was created to appeal to Arab children and encourage a healthy lifestyle, cultural appreciation and an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), the show has superseded the original expectations of its award-winning creator, Rashed Alharmoodi, to capture the imagination of children across the Middle East.

The Adventures of Mansour has over two billion YouTube views, three million subscribers and 300 million watch hours, and 25.2 million unique viewers in just the last 90 days. The new series aims to build on this success and has improved production quality and aims raise awareness for the culture and values that represent the UAE both locally and internationally, tackling issues of international significance such as AI, the role of and reliance on technology, climate change and space exploration.

The series targets children aged 6-12 and is funded by Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) as part of their efforts to support children content creation that support inclusion, culture, and Arabic language.

WAM launches ‘Tolerance Charter for News Agencies and Media Outlets’ at Global Media Congress

ABU DHABI, The Emirates News Agency (WAM) has launched the ‘Tolerance Charter for News Agencies and Media Outlets’, a document aimed to unite media entities from across the globe around promoting tolerance, coexistence and intercultural dialogue through enhancing international cooperation.

The charter, which announced during the second day of the inaugural edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), was ratified by representatives of dozens of news agencies and media outlets from around the world to enhance the dissemination of news and media content that boost the spread of tolerance and coexistence as core human values.

Commenting on the launch, Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the GMC, said, “Aligning with the directives of our wise leadership and the UAE’s efforts to promote tolerance and coexistence, WAM’s launch of the ‘Tolerance Charter for News Agencies and Media Outlets’ is a step forward in driving international efforts in this regard, in promoting peace and human fraternity, and ultimately, building more tolerance communities to ensure stability and boost prosperity worldwide.”

Al Rayssi added that the UAE has presented a distinctive global model in promoting tolerance and international cooperation in service of humanity. “These core values are at the heart of the UAE’s civilisation and development drive, an approach that guided the country’s relationships with other countries and its efforts to help other nations and communities in adopting tolerance and coexistence as a lifestyle. This best exemplified in the UAE being home to people from over 200 nationalities, who live in harmony and enjoy the peace and security our country offers,” he noted.

The Tolerance Charter for the Media is built around the following principles and ethical commitments:

– Believing that efforts to strengthen tolerance and acceptance of differences in terms of faiths, cultures, languages, and opinions, are an important part of building modern states and societies.

– Believing that the media have a primary role to play in highlighting manifestations of tolerance in our midst and disseminating the values thereof among audiences

– Believing that the theme of tolerance deserves constant follow-up in order to ensure peaceful coexistence of diverse identities, faiths, ideologies, and viewpoints within and beyond the borders of our respective countries, viewing it as a precondition for sustainable development, building harmonious futures and developing our civilisational potential.

– Agreeing to exchange and publicise news stories related to tolerance in various formats such as print, audio, video and digital, as an action course to inspire people across the globe to live tolerant lives and foster harmonious societies.

– The signatories agreeing that the following are among the contents that they will try to actively promote on their platforms from their partners’ platforms:

A. Stories that portray various manifestations of tolerance and coexistence.

B. Projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening a culture of tolerance launched by both the governments and private sector entities.

C. Legislations and policies aimed at promoting tolerance and curbing intolerance and extremism.

D. Stories that can help in the fight against hatred, sectarianism, extremism, terrorism, exclusivism, discrimination and chauvinism.

– Highlighting, as a matter of especial priority, stories that focus on the role of the youth in building tolerant communities towards a brighter future.

– That the agreement is not binding but rather a declaration of willingness, with the decisions to be made solely according to the discretion of each of the signatories.

WAM, Federal News Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina sign cooperation agreement at GMC

ABU DHABI, The Emirates News Agency (WAM) signed a cooperation agreement with the Bosnia’s Federal News Agency (FENA), to enhance their cooperation in exchanging news and media content.

The agreement, which also aims to strengthen the media relations between the two agencies to serve their mutual objectives, was signed at the Global Media Congress (GMC), which will run until 17th November, 2022, by Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM and Chairman of the GMC Higher Organising Committee, and Elmir Huremovic, Director-General of FENA.

The agreement’s signing took place under the framework of WAM’s keenness to strengthen its partnerships with global media outlets and promote its sustainable model of professional cooperation.

Al Rayssi welcomed Huremovic’s visit and stressed WAM’s keenness to strengthen its ties with FENA for the benefit of supporting media sector which constitutes a fundamental pillar in promoting sustainable development paths in the two countries.

Huremovic highlighted FENA’s keenness to strengthen its cooperation with WAM, lauding the regional and international status of the agency as a provider of multilingual credible news content.

He also praised the hosting of the Global Media Congress and its role in shaping the future of the media in the region and the entire world.

UAE strongly condemns attack targeting northern Iraq

ABU DHABI, The UAE strongly condemned the attack that targeted the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq, resulting in deaths and injuries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) expressed in a statement the UAE’s solidarity with all measures taken by Iraq to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, stressing the UAE’s support for efforts to establish security and stability in the country.

The Ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of the Republic of Iraq and to the families of the victims, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery to all the injured.
