Aboul Gheit discusses with Al-Lafi developments in the political process and national reconciliation in Libya.

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, discussed in Cairo today, Wednesday, with the representative of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, the latest developments in the political process and national reconciliation in Libya.

The official spokesman for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, said that Al-Lafi discussed in his speech the developments of the political process in Libya, reviewing in this regard the Council’s efforts to complete the national reconciliation project and the next steps in this regard.

Aboul Gheit affirmed, according to the spokesman, that the Arab League supports all efforts that would advance national reconciliation and advance the political process in a way that leads to preserving the unity of Libya, establishing security and stability in it, ending the foreign military presence in Libya, and merging the armed formations.

Rushdi stated that Abul-Gheit welcomed what the representative of the Presidential Council mentioned regarding reliance on the role of the League of Arab States, through its support for efforts to achieve national reconciliation, and the completion of the political process ending with national elections that allow for permanent stability in the country.
