Cairo, Paris caution against serious Gaza escalation

CAIRO, Egypt and France on Saturday warned of the seriousness of the current situation in the Gaza Strip, particularly amid growing humanitarian impacts on civilians.

The warning was given in a phone conversation received by Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron as part of continued consultations between both leaders regarding the military escalation of Gaza, Presidential Spokesman Ahmad Fahmi said in a press statement.

During the call, both leaders tackled ongoing diplomatic efforts to ensure de-escalation and provide humanitarian, medical and relief aid to the population of the Palestinian enclave, he pointed out. (end) ism.mt
