UAE announces 1,522 new COVID-19 cases, 1,475 recoveries,1 death in last 24 hours

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that it conducted 156,396 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment. As part of its intensified testing campaign, MoHAP announced 1,522 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 967,597.

According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MoHAP also announced 1 death due to COVID-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,325.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It called on all members of the society to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

MoHAP also noted that an additional 1,475 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 947,677.

SEHA successfully concludes 6th Annual Al Ain Research Day Conference

ABU DHABI, Tawam Hospital, part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the UAE’s largest healthcare network, has successfully concluded the 6th Annual Al Ain Medical Conference for Scientific Research. The one-day conference saw the attendance of 100 medical experts and support staff from Tawam Hospital, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), and the University of the United Arab Emirates.

The conference, representative of Abu Dhabi’s continued efforts to continue to nurture its medical research community, was attended by the Acting Medical Director of Tawam Hospital and the heads of the Research and Development Department of the Department of Health (DOH, Abu Dhabi) and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) Seventy medical research papers were presented, sparking several pertinent conversations, including a thorough review by Dr. Rasheed Al Hammadi, a Divison Manager of medical research and development in the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, who presented views of the regulatory’s body to organise, develop, and support medical research and its initiatives to upgrade the skills of members of Abu Dhabi’s research community. Additionally, Dr. Juan Acuna, Director of research and development at SEHA and Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Khalifa University, elaborated on initiatives currently underway to increase the quality of medical research at various hospitals. While Professor Fikri Abu Zidan, head of the Trauma Group at United Arab Emirates University, presented a lecture on the importance of clearly defining the objective of each study and how to properly select research question to truly benefit the community and the medical field.

Speaking about the success of the conference, Dr. Dalal Al Mansoori, Acting chief medical officer of Tawam hospital said, “As healthcare leaders of Abu Dhabi, it is our duty to propel the development of scientific research and ensure that our budding Emirati researchers receive the right platform to support their growth and, through them, to positively shape the quality of healthcare across the emirate.”

Dr. Khaled Al Dahmani, Acting Chair of the Internal Medicine Department at Tawam hospital and the chairman of the Al Ain Research Day noted, “The abundance of research opportunities available to thriving doctors under the guidance of our expert physicians showcase the commitment of SEHA employees and leaders to cultivate medical research. The conference was a tremendous success, and one that we hope excites the research community and paves the way for path breaking discoveries in healthcare.”

Key research topics highlighted at the conference included Elucidation of the Cellular and Molecular Basis of Familial Hypercholesterolemia in the UAE; Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Young Female Patients with Suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome; Pediatric End Stage Renal Disease at Tawam hospital and Neonatal Outcomes in Babies Born to Women with Diabetes Mellitus in Pregnancy.

SEHA, Israel’s Kahn-Sagol-Maccabi to promote joint medical research and technological innovation

ABU DHABI, The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) has signed an agreement with Kahn-Sagol-Maccabi (KSM), the research and innovation centre of Israel’s Maccabi Healthcare Services, to promote joint medical research and technological innovation.

The agreement – signed on 29th June in Abu Dhabi – will also support the Emirate’s goal of building a genomic research registry to optimise clinical data, sample collection and clinical reporting.

The partnership focuses on promoting medical research that combines big data capabilities and genetic and clinical research with the goal of advancing personalised medicine, while emphasising medical innovation and the establishment of a regional ecosystem that will support joint research activities. Studies will be conducted in cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and more.

“This partnership supports SEHA’s vision and objectives of exploring collaboration opportunities in other areas that foster cooperation in education, research, health technology, and clinical programs. We look forward to a successful partnership and extending this program to our facilities and distinguished practitioners,” said SEHA Group CEO Saeed Al Kuwaiti.

Dr. Tal Patalon, Head of KSM, said, “We continue to build research collaborations with various countries in the region, implementing our vision of a shared innovative ecosystem that promotes research and development of advanced personalised medicine, while creating added value within the whole region.”

Emirates Health Services, Burjeel Hospitals establish partnership to enhance collaboration on research

ABU DHABI, Emirates Health Services (EHS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi LLC and its Affiliates (BHAD & A), in an effort to boost the collaboration in research, skill development, and academics.

The agreement aims to raise the level of medical care and research outcomes through partnerships that support education, training, and health learning resources to meet the highest standards and best practices, which Burjeel Hospital and its affiliates are committed to providing as one of the UAE’s leading healthcare institutions.

Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS, said: “The partnership is a testimonial to EHS’ commitment to providing top-quality healthcare services. We look forward to working closely with BHAD & A to explore various areas of training and skill development, which will help us achieve the goals set by our visionary leaders to improve the quality of health services. We hope this collaboration will further strengthen academic cooperation and research between both partners.”

Prof. DR. As per the MoU, EHS and BHAD & A will work to develop opportunities for cooperation by leveraging their expertise and resources in all areas that support the development of skills in health staff across the medical, nursing, dental, technical, and administrative departments.

The agreement also calls for forming a joint committee for collaboration and cooperation, headed by a representative from the Training and Development Centre at EHS, to ensure a smooth workflow and overcome any challenges that may obstruct the agreement’s implementation.

Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi and its Affiliates will collaborate with Emirates Health Services in academic and research activities, including internships, exchange of training staff, library and research materials sharing, and participation in scientific events.

UAE announces 1,554 new COVID-19 cases, 1,288 recoveries, and no deaths in last 24 hours

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that it conducted 123,037 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.

As part of its intensified testing campaign, MoHAP announced 1,554 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 966,075.

According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

The Ministry added that no COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,324.

MoHAP also noted that an additional 1,288 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 946,202
