PUBLIC HEALTH MINISTER DISCUSSES CHOLERA RELATED DEVELOPMENTS WITH WHO DELEGATION

Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Al-Abiad, on Friday received in his office at the ministry, a delegation from the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, which included the Director of Programme Management. Dr Rana Hajjeh, and the representative of the World Health Organization in Lebanon Abdel Nasser Abu Bakr.

Discussions reportedly touched on the developments of the cholera epidemic in Lebanon and the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Public Health to combat the epidemic outbreak, and ways of cooperation and coordination between the ministry and the regional office, especially the measures and procedures taken to prevent the spread of Cholera.

The meeting also touched on the awareness campaigns carried out by the Ministry and its adopted communication strategy to raise awareness amongst the public on Cholera prevention means.
