UAE announces 1,528 new COVID-19 cases, 1,491 recoveries, 4 deaths in last 24 hours

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that it conducted 232,307 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement on Sunday, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment. As part of its intensified testing campaign, MoHAP announced 1,528 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 671,636.

According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MoHAP also announced four deaths due to COVID-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 1,920.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It called on all members of the society to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

MoHAP also noted that an additional 1,491 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 649,173.

51,073 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in past 24 hours: MoHAP

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has announced that 51,073 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered during the past 24 hours.

The total number of doses provided up to today stands at 16,495,917 with a rate of vaccine distribution of 166.79 doses per 100 people.

The vaccination drive is in line with the Ministry’s plan to provide the vaccine to all members of society and acquire immunity, which will help reduce the number of cases and control the spread of the virus.

Khalifa University becomes member of Global E3 Consortium

ABU DHABI, Khalifa University (KU) is now a member of the Global Engineering Education Exchange Program (Global E3 Consortium), a consortium-based exchange programme established in 1995 that provides undergraduate engineering students an opportunity to study in leading universities from around the world while being able to pay tuition at their home university.

As a top ranked university in the UAE and a regional leader in STEM education, Khalifa University joins the ranks of prestigious institutions such as Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), and the University of Melbourne (Australia). By joining the E³ Consortium, KU would be the first member from the UAE and wider Gulf region.

UAEFA to host Sudanese Football Team training camp

ABU DHABI, Upon the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the UAE Football Association will host a training camp for the Sudanese Football Team from 20th to 27th August, 2021, as part of the preparations for the African qualifiers of the World Cup 2022 finals.

The UAE Football Association highlighted its keenness to ensure the success of the camp, noting that it will take place in Dubai and will witness two friendly matches, along with the adoption of appropriate medical protocols and the medical testing of the Sudanese team.

The hosting of the camp underscores the profound overall relations between the two countries, including in the area of sports. The UAE previously hosted many training camps for Sudanese teams, as well as various football events, most notably the match between Sudanese Premier League teams Al Hilal and Al Merreikh at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi in 2018, under the slogan, “Meeting the Brothers on the Land of Loyalty,” which witnessed a large turnout from Sudanese football fans.
