ABU DHABI, The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has announced that the exemption of fines on customers, who have not enrolled in, or renewed their health insurance scheme, is valid until 23rd of October 2021.

In line with its commitment to ensure continuous access to healthcare for all members of the community, DoH aims to provide access to the right healthcare services at the right time through securing health insurance coverage to all the residents of the Emirate.

Dr. Jamal Mohammed Alkaabi, Undersecretary of DoH, said, “The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi is keen to exploring ways to ensure the availability of healthcare services for all residents of the Emirate, in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.”

He added, “As we strive to support the health and safety of our community members, we encourage them to subscribe to a health insurance plan or renew their subscription to ensure they get the care they need.”

After the exemption period expires, a fine of AED300 per month for every uninsured month, will be subjected to individuals who do not subscribe to a health insurance scheme. This is in accordance with the provisions of the Health Insurance Law No. 23/2005, its amendments and executive regulations.

DoH had previously launched a set of initiatives and exemptions that ensure that all members of the community obtain health insurance policy and have access to the necessary healthcare services.

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that it conducted 318,348 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment. As part of its intensified testing campaign, MoHAP announced 1,077 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 706,166.

According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MoHAP also announced 3 deaths due to COVID-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,012.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It called on all members of the society to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

MoHAP also noted that an additional 1,611 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 686,025.

ABU DHABI, Etihad Rail has signed a partnership agreement with Al Ghurair Iron & Steel (AGIS), the UAE’s largest producer of galvanised and cold rolled flat steel, to use the UAE National Rail Network to transport the steel producer’s product across the nation.

Etihad Rail will be providing efficient and sustainable services by transporting steel products from AGIS’s manufacturing facilities through the rail freight terminal in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali in Dubai for exports.

Speaking on the agreement, Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Executive Director of Rail Relations Sector at Etihad Rail, commented, “Our company consistently seeks more robust partnerships with a range of entities, delivering services that are integrated directly with clients’ business models and further promote their efficiency. Our agreement with AGIS will facilitate the transport of their products through the UAE National Rail Network, connecting industrial hubs, exports points, and commercial centres. Our rail network drives further cost and time savings, increases operational efficiency in comparison to road-based transport, and enables further market expansion opportunities for our partners at AGIS.”

With such improvements in our supply chain, galvanised steel coils made in UAE will find a wider customer base.”

Stage Two of the UAE National Rail Network continues to be developed on schedule. Customers will benefit from customised service scheduling solutions. Additionally, the company will deliver specialised wagons which can handle a wide variety of freight.

The agreement signed with AGIS demonstrates Etihad Rail’s sustained role in delivering additional value to the UAE’s and the GCC’s logistics sector through its sustainable rail network. The network will additionally offer long-term support for the UAE’s economic growth, offering innovative, competitive, and reliable transport and freight solutions across the region.

ABU DHABI, The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has confirmed that it has facilitated the evacuation of foreign nationals from Afghanistan prior to and during the ongoing situation.

As part of its ongoing support on humanitarian grounds, the UAE has worked with its international partners to contribute to global relief efforts in Afghanistan.

Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, emphasised that the focus of the UAE in recent days has been to facilitate the efforts of a range of nations and non-governmental organisations to safely evacuate their officials and support staff, including some Afghan nationals, through UAE airports and on to their final destinations.

“The UAE is a committed and steadfast member of the international community and is exerting significant effort to safeguard those in need. The ongoing support provided by the UAE is evidence of our commitment to strengthening international cooperation, particularly in times of crisis,” Al Shamsi noted.

“Guided by our principled support for peaceful, multilateral solutions, the UAE is also working with its international partners to advance efforts to achieve the aspirations of the Afghan people for peace, development, and stability,” he added.

Moreover, Al Shamsi noted that the UAE continues to closely follow developments in Afghanistan and joins in the international community’s call for a peaceful resolution that meets the hopes and aspirations of the Afghan people.
