1. Tourist visas On Monday, the decision to accept tourist visas for people vaccinated with WHO-approved COVID-19 jabs from around the world will take effect.

The decision will enable many international tourists to visit the UAE and enjoy the distinguished tourism experiences and services it offers, especially as it came before the start of the country’s tourist season, which usually begins in October.

2. Expo 2020 Dubai The UAE is preparing to host Expo 2020 Dubai in October, which is one of the world’s largest and most influential events, and will ensure the country is a leading international tourist destination for six months. Transformative industry sector contributes 12 pct to UAE’s non-oil GDP: Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre

ABU DHABI, The transformative industry sector contributes around 12 percent to the UAE’s non-oil GDP, according to the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre.

The industrial sector is a key contributor to the national economy, and therefore receives special attention from the UAE’s leadership, said Hanan Mansoor Ahli, Acting Executive Director of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre.

The UAE boasts well-founded industrial sectors that will help the nation reach global markets through employing innovation, advanced technology, and 4IR solutions, she added.

The UAE’s jump in rankings in UNIDO’s Competitive Industrial Performance Index 2021, from 35 to 30 worldwide, as well as across the four sub-indices, is testament to the nation’s industrial environment, she commented on the UAE ranking 30th in the world in the 2021 United Nation’s Industrial Organisation’s Competitive Industrial Performance Index (CIP) report which tracks 152 countries.

The industrial sector, according to Centre’s figures, makes up 9.2 percent of the total national workforce, she noted.

Public Prosecution highlights obligations of educational institutions if exposed to COVID-19

ABU DHABI, The Public Prosecution has posted, on its social media account, the obligations that educational institutions or any other organisations must abide by if they suspect a student or others has a communicable disease, such as COVID-19.

The Public Prosecution has commented that, under Article (12) of the Federal Law No. (14) of 2014 Concerning the Prevention of Communicable Diseases, if a director of an educational institution or any other facility suspects that any of the students or employees has been infected with a communicable disease, such as COVID-19, the director must refer the suspected person to a specialist doctor for examination and file a report about the person, including stating the nature of his/her disease. If it is proven that the person has this disease, the director must inform the Ministry or health authority immediately and take the appropriate measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

”Directors of educational institutions or any other facilities, the Ministry and the health authority must isolate the infected person and his contacts, or put them under quarantine, whether by preventing them from entering the facility or by using any other way that prevents them from being in contact with other subjects during periods indicated by the law, or those determined by the Ministry or the health authority,” the law states.

The director of the educational institution or any other facility may not accept the return of the person infected with a communicable disease to the facility from which he was removed, except after fulfilling all of the conditions determined by the Ministry of the health authority for the return of the infected person to the facility to which he belongs to,” it explained.

The Public Prosecution published this information as part of its ongoing campaign aimed at promoting the legal culture and raising public awareness about the urgency of curbing the pandemic.

UAE announces 987 new COVID-19 cases, 1,554 recoveries, 2 deaths in last 24 hours

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that it conducted 348,771 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.

In a statement on Sunday, the Ministry stressed its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment. As part of its intensified testing campaign, MoHAP announced 987 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 716,381.

According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MoHAP also announced two deaths due to COVID-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,038.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished COVID-19 patients a speedy and full recovery. It called on all members of the society to cooperate with health authorities, adhere to the instructions and physical distance to ensure the health and safety of all.

MoHAP also noted that an additional 1,554 individuals had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 702,102.
