Al-Shahoubi calls on French companies to return and work in the Libyan market and contribute to development and reconstruction projects


Tripoli: The Minister of Transportation in the National Unity Government, ‘Mohamed Salem Al-Shahoubi,’ called on French companies to return and work in the Libyan market and contribute to development and reconstruction projects, especially in various transportation projects and to contribute to the transit road project from Libya to Africa.

During his meeting with the French Ambassador, Mustafa Maharaj, today, Monday, in his office, Al-Shahoubi stressed the depth of historical cooperation and the importance of continuing to consolidate these good relations between the two countries in all fields, especially cooperation with French companies in the field of aviation, air transport, maintenance, and training.

Al-Shahoubi also called on French companies to cooperate in helping Libya with the problem of traffic congestion in major cities and to seek help from the French experience in some Maghreb countries.

For his part, Ambassador Maharaj praised Libya’s participation in the French-Libyan Forum held in Paris
– France in December 2023 and the positive results that helped develop cooperation between the two countries in the field of transportation and air transport.

Beliheg: Postponing the press conference on the impact of imposing a fee on the foreign exchange rate.


Tripoli: Spokesperson of the House of Representatives (HoR), Abdullah Beliheg, announced today that the committee charged with studying the impact of imposing a fee on the foreign exchange rate has postponed its press conference and is still continuing to hold its meetings.



Beliheg added in a press statement that the committee held its fourth meeting on Sunday at the headquarters of the HoR in Benghazi, in the presence of the Committee Chairman, Second Deputy Speaker of the HoR, Mesbah Douma, the Committee Member, Chairman of the Economy, Trade and Investment Committee, Badr Al-Naheeb.



The meeting was attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, his deputy, Marai Al-Barasi, and the Director of the Studies and Research Department at the bank.



In his statement, Beliheg did not mention any other details about what happened during the meeting.

RAHI RAISES ANNUAL PRAYERS IN APPRECIATION OF FRANCE


Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi presided over a mass service on Monday in appreciation of France in presence of French Ambassador Herve Margo and a number of political figures.

During the sermon, Al-Rahi considered that Lebanon’s tragedy resulting from the interaction of external and internal interventions had made it lose its positive and effective neutrality.

The Patriarch also prayed for France’s intentions, considering that “for Lebanon and for the world, France is a sign of hope for the values of freedom, equality and fraternity.”

Finally, he hoped that France would remain a beacon that lights the paths towards a better world and a new humanity.

Meeting of the Committee for Payment of Libya’s Contributions to International Organizations.

Tripoli: The Committee for Payment of Libya’s Contributions to International Organizations held its second regular meeting for the year 2024 on Sunday, in the presence of a number of directors of international cooperation offices in affiliated ministries and government institutions.

Our Government Platform stated that the technical team of the Telecommunications Holding Company gave a presentation on the contributions system to be implemented in all ministries, through which the movement of payment of contributions is followed in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

During the meeting, the contributions paid during the year 2023 were reviewed, through which the Libyan state’s obligations were settled in all international political institutions, most notably the United Nations General Assembly, the African Union, the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, and the Arab Maghreb Union, in addition to a number of other economic and technical institutions.

ng, contributions for the year 2024 were reviewed according to the forms prepared by the committee, and contributions that met the conditions were approved with the aim of paying the entitlement, according to the platform.

Al-Lafi discusses with the Ambassador of Russia to Libya the latest developments in the political process in Libya, and a number of international and regional issues.

Tripoli: Representative in the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Libya, Aydar Aganin, to discuss the latest developments in the political process in Libya, and a number of international and regional issues.

The meeting discussed the efforts of the Presidential Council in the national reconciliation file, and preparations for the convening of the inclusive national conference in which all segments of the Libyan people will participate.

Al-Lafi appreciated Russia’s keenness to support the peaceful path, and all the efforts made to achieve permanent stability in Libya.

In turn, the Russian ambassador praised, during the meeting, the role of Al-Lafi and the Presidential Council in addressing the political impasse and restoring confidence between all parties, considering that the national reconciliation project will enhance the chances of achieving peace and meeting the aspirations of the Libyan people.
